French oil on wood artwork by Jean Claude Imbert, measuring 73cm x 60cm. Titled ‘Jeannette and André Vieux Port’ is countersigned and in very good condition.
Born in Paris in 1919, Imbert made his mark in the art world after exhibiting at prestigious venues like BERNHEIM, Bardes, Chardin, Mourlot, and Jouvène in Marseille, and showcased his work internationally in cities such as Los Angeles, Munich, and Liège.
In 1957, he became a professor of painting at the Beaux-Arts of Avignon, later moving to Aix en Provence in 1962. His talent extended beyond oil paintings; he was also a skilled designer and watercolorist, known for his innovative techniques that incorporated materials like sand, earth, and cement into his large panels.
Imbert’s creative journey came to an end in 1993, but his legacy lives on through numerous retrospective exhibitions.
