Jessica Olpp

Jessica Olpp is an emerging artist whose practice reflects a lifelong devotion to creativity and language. Growing up in the bushlands of Warrandyte, she was surrounded by the changing tones of the Australian landscape, an influence that continues to inform her palette. Time spent living and working in France deepened her sensitivity to light, colour, and the poetry of everyday life. She is now based in Caulfield North, Melbourne, where she balances her career as a French teacher with her flourishing artistic practice.

Jessica has always nurtured her creative side through dance, poetry, and the study of languages. In 2022, she turned to painting as a form of self-expression and a way to carve out calm amidst her busy schedule. Self-taught, she approaches each canvas as an exploration of memory and mood. Her works are inspired by the skies of both Australia and France, recollections of travel, and the intimacy of still-life moments. Through soft colour harmonies and distilled compositions, Jessica creates paintings that hold quiet emotion and invite the viewer into a contemplative space.

Her work has already gained recognition on the Australian art scene. In 2023, she was named a finalist in The Next Big Thing art prize at The Toowoomba Gallery, and a gallery finalist at Aspire Gallery in Queensland. That same year, she presented her first solo exhibition at The Black Cat in Fitzroy and participated in a group show at The Fitzroy Art Collective. These early achievements signal a promising trajectory, as Jessica continues to refine her voice as both a painter and storyteller through colour.
