Caisa “Caia” Leifsdotter is a Swedish-born artist, designer, and creative director based in Copenhagen. Raised in a lineage steeped in craftsmanship, architecture, and the arts, she has developed a distinctive practice that blurs the boundaries between furniture, interior design and sculptural work.
In founding her eponymous studio, CAIA LEIFSDOTTER, she set out to build functional spaces that feel like art, and art that can live within spaces. Her work ranges from bespoke cabinetry, kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, to sculptural objects, furniture, and lighting.
Leifsdotter’s signature pieces include her Psychedelic Mirrors, which meld resin’s unpredictable reflections with minimalist form to create pieces that change with light and perspective. These works exemplify her love of materials, process, and moments of unpredictability.
Her design philosophy combines respect for historical and architectural heritage with a modern sculptural sensibility. She often draws on her childhood memories of nature in Sweden, family workshops, and early exposure to antique and architectural traditions, alongside a fascination with the tactile, the honest, and the subtle pleasures of natural materials like wood, steel, stone, and marble.
Every project she undertakes reflects careful collaboration with artisans, carpenters, and clients, to realize unique pieces that balance form and function. Caia’s work is about storytelling in space: honoring the past, embracing craftsmanship, and allowing imperfections and character to breathe.
