Marlo Lyda
We’re delighted to introduce Marlo Lyda to the Cleo Collects range, an Australian-born designer-maker and curator whose work we’re proud to now represent.
Based at the Powerhouse Creative Residencies on Gadigal Country, Sydney, Marlo’s practice is grounded in coaxing delicate yet functional objects from rarely considered materials. Her work invites a reassessment of value of what we overlook, discard, or deem secondary, revealing beauty through intention, restraint, and process. This philosophy extends beyond her own making into the exhibitions she curates, where material honesty and community sit at the core.
A graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven (2021), Marlo brings together rigorous design thinking with a deeply hands-on, collaborative approach. Her work spans furniture, lighting, and material research, and has been exhibited at Dutch Design Week and across Australia. In 2023, she founded MATTERS, a curatorial platform and exhibition series exploring intention in design, with its second installment recognised as a standout of Melbourne Design Week 2024.
Marlo is the recipient of the NSW Design (Early Career) Fellowship – Powerhouse Residency (2023), through which she developed Turning (Camphor), exhibited during Melbourne Design Week. Her acclaimed Remnants collection received the Judges’ Choice Award at the VIVID Emerging Design Competition (2022), and her Fragments onyx wall lights have been shortlisted for the 2024 IDEA Awards. She has also been featured in Vogue Living and named a finalist in the NVG Ring Design Prize 2025.
