Artist Biography

Jody Rigby, ex antique dealer and tv horticulturist with a penchant for eclectic and exciting interiors, finally committed to her own art journey later in life.

Her honest and often wholesome works features utilitarian vessels of bygone eras and simple florals. ‘My art loves are so diverse, from the Dutch masters to cubism, and I really find it hard to stay in one box’ . A chameleon of sorts often torn between a more impressionist approach and capturing realism she often paints in series and gravitates towards a different theme or subject from one week to the next . I look for a sheen or a shadow, not chasing perfection but use broader deliberate brushstrokes which produces a more painterly approach to the work. ‘I’m lucky to have a space filled with interesting antique decor from the last 100 years to draw from’. ‘I also don’t shy away from a pop of rich colour amongst darkness.’
