Artist Biography
Ann Needham is a Brisbane-based artist whose expressive figurative paintings give shape to feeling. Through colour, line, texture and the human form, she creates compositions that suggest an inner state rather than a single fixed narrative.
Raised on the New South Wales South Coast, Needham brings a background in fashion, textile design and psychology to her practice. She holds a Master of Art Therapy, and these disciplines inform both her interest in emotion and her instinctive approach to making.
Working predominantly in acrylic, Needham moves between large-scale statement pieces and more intimate works. Visible marks and tactile surfaces are central to her paintings: the trace of the artist’s hand invites a personal connection with each viewer.
Her work has been held in collections in Australia, England, Singapore and the United States, including at City of Hope in California. She was previously represented by Gannon House Gallery in Sydney, and her paintings were featured in Home Design magazine in 2025.
